Pete's Dad needs some immediate surgery, so Pete has headed back to NZ. We hope for all the best and that we get to see Pete again as soon as the situation allows. Our thoughts are with ya dude.

My shifter packed it in. Replacing it meant upgrading from 8-speed to 9-speed....which forced an upgrade of the whole drivetrain. Fortunately, we were able to get all this done at a super shop that let us get on the road by 12.30.

2 liters down on our water after just two hours of riding. No way we can complete a six hour loop. Lesson learned and we are heading back here in 120 degree + heat. Heart rates were pounding even when we were soft pedaling.
