Smilie and Kristin Together for the Gold

Smilie (my coach) has been doing well with the ladies. I hooked up with him when he accompanied the U.S. women's road team to NZ for a bit of training in the Tour of Wellington.

But his personal coaching and bike prep of time trialist Kristin Armstrong has gone gold, as the American smoked the field in the Olympics. That's her making the cover of Velo News.

Kristin will be teaming with Smilie this year to coach a number of training camps here in the U.S. and possibly overseas.

Also got the latest word of the surprise entrant at the Leadville 100 (a Colorado ultra endurance race), where there was a late surprise entrant: Lance Armstrong. Smilie was with him in the lead group for about 20 miles before the hammer really dropped. Lance broke the course record but had to settle for second as he over-extended himself on the last climb of the day (by climbing it when everyone else walked)
